
ISLAMABAD: Former premier Mian Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Captain (retired) Safdar have been released from jail on parole to participate in funeral and burial of Begum Kulsoom Nawaz, ARY News reported.
A notification issued by the Punjab Home Department said the trio were released for 12 hours to attend the funeral of Begum Kulsoom. “The duration of permission granted shall not exceed 12 hours – which shall not include the time consumed from journey to and from the prison,” reads the notification.

The PML-N supreme leader, who is serving jail time with his daughter and son-in-law after being convicted in a corruption reference by an accountability court, was released from Adiala Jail in the wee hours on Wednesday, has now reached Lahore.
The coffin of Begum Kulsoom Nawaz, Sharif’s wife and former MNA, who breathed her last in a London hospital, will be brought back to Lahore for a funeral and burial.
In his condolence message, Prime Minister Imran Khan had directed the authorities to provide all facilities to the family and heirs of Kulsoom Nawaz as per law. He also directed Pakistani High Commission in London to assist in provision of all necessary facilities to the heirs of the deceased.
