LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) leader Khawaja Saad Rafique, who lost election to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan in NA-131, Lahore, moved an application seeking recounting of votes cast in this constituency.
According to unofficial results, the PTI chief begged 84, 313 votes, defeating the former railway minister with a narrow margin of 650 votes as the latter could secure 83,663 votes.
In his application, he has requested the authorities concerned to order recounting of votes cast in his constituency in the general elections.
It was one of the hotly contested seats of the National Assembly because of the two political heavyweights.
Previously, Mr. Khan had lost three elections in Lahore deemed as one of the former ruling party’s strongholds.
The PML-N leader had not faced any defeat since 1997 in this constituency. In the election of 2013, Imran faced off Ayaz Sadiq in Lahore’s NA-122 but lost after a tough contest.
