ISLAMABAD: Justice Muhammad Noor Meskanzai on Wednesday sworn in as Chief Justice Federal Shariat Court (FSC) in Islamabad.
Acting Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Gulzar Ahmed administered oath to Justice Meskanzai at Supreme Court of Pakistan in a simple and dignified ceremony.
The oath taking ceremony was attended by judges of Supreme Court and Federal Shariat Court, Attorney General, Advocate Generals, senior lawyers and the judicial staff.
Justice Muhammad Noor Meskanzai, former Chief Justice of High Court of Balochistan, as Chief Justice Federal Shariat Court at Supreme Court of Pakistan in a simple and dignified ceremony.
Justice Meskanzai will hold the office of the FSC chief justice for two years.
Muhammad Noor Meskanzai was elevated as Additional Judge, High Court of Balochistan on the 7th of September 2009, and confirmed as Judge of the High Court of Balochistan on the 11th of May, 2011.
Justice Meskanzai took oath as Chief Justice of the High Court of Balochistan on December 26, 2014.
Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Asif Saeed Khosa had proposed name of the Balochistan High Court (BHC) former chief justice Mohammad Noor Meskanzai as new chief justice of the FSC.
The Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) on April 22 considered nomination of Meskanzai as the new FSC top judge.
FSC Chief Justice Sheikh Najamul Hasan retired on May 14. Justice Hasan, who is a former Lahore High Court judge, was appointed as an FSC judge on August 08, 2014 and was elevated as its chief justice on May 15, 2017.
