Free, discounted education: Sindh police sign agreement with educational institutions

KARACHI: Sindh police have taken a major step for the welfare of children of martyred personnel and on-duty officers as the department signed an agreement with renowned institutions for free and discounted education facility, ARY News reported on Wednesday.

Sindh police signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with best educational institutions for provision of free and discounted education facility to children of police martyrs and on-duty officers, said spokesperson.

The initiative will open opportunities to the children to get education from renowned schools, colleges and universities.

The spokesperson told media that the students belonging to police officials’ families would be given 50 per cent discount on monthly fees.

A ceremony was organised at the Central Police Office (CPO) which was attended by owners and representatives of renowned schools. The agreement was signed by Additional Inspector General (AIG) Welfare which set quota of the children in all schools.

According to the agreement, private schools will give education facility to 200 children of martyred officials and 200 kids of on-duty officials will get discount up to 50 per cent in monthly fees.

On March 22, Sindh Police had constituted a ‘Reforms Committee’ to bring reforms in police department including swift action to resolve complaints on report of Law and Justice of Pakistan.

“The relevant superintendent of police will resolve complaints against police and thana culture,” Kaleem Imam said in a statement.

He said the relevant officer should redress a complaint within seven days. He said no complainant would have to approach court for the first information report.

The IG said if a police official was involved in a case, investigation would be launched against him by removing him from his post.

“If a police official is found involved in heinous crime or injustice, he would be sacked,” he warned.

Kaleem Imam said if police did not register a complaint then Justice of Peace would itself approach police.

He said action would be taken against police official under an oath with the complainant.

On February 11, Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa had ordered to prepare and implement police reforms on priority basis.
