QUETTA: Heavy rainfall with thunderstorm in various parts of Balochistan submerged low-lying areas in the province leaving several areas without electricity, ARY News reported on Wednesday.
The Met Office had forecast that a narrow westerly wave prevails in most parts of the country. The weather department had also predicted heavy rains with lightning in Karachi from Wednesday (today) till Saturday.
The rough weather caused collision among three buses in Khuzdar district of Balochistan leaving five people dead and 20 others injured.
Heavy rainfall caused flooding in rivers and nullahs in Kohlu district. The floodwater swept away 20 goats in the district.
Heavy downpour also reported in Kalat, Pishin, Zhob and adjoining areas.
The met office has reported 02mm rainfall in Lasbela district. Jaffarabad, Dera Allahyar, Osta Mohammad and Sohbatpur districts also received heavy rainfall which submerged the low-lying areas and causing power outages at several places.
The wet spell in Karachi will begin today, will likely to continue till Saturday.
The Met office has said the mercury will drop by four to six degrees in the city after the rain.
The weather department further said that dust-thunderstorm and rain is expected at scattered places in Balochistan, Upper Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Islamabad, Gilgit Baltistan and Kashmir from Wednesday to Saturday.
