ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister of Malaysia Mahathir Bin Mohamad made a telephone call on Friday to Premier Imran Khan.
During the maiden phone call, leaders of both states agreed to extend cooperation in various sectors, while PM Imran highlighted the significance of bilateral ties between Pakistan and Malaysia.
“Exchange of delegations between two countries is very essential,” he added and invited the oldest serving leader of Malaysia for a state visit to Pakistan.
An invitation that Malaysian leader has accepted and assured his Pakistani counterpart to visit the country soon.
Malaysian PM extended congratulatory remarks to PM Khan on electoral victory and assuming the office of chief executive of Pakistan.
The Prime Minister of Pakistan also appreciated the initiatives taken by Kuala Lumpur to ameliorate the economic scenario of the Southeast Asian country.
On the other hand, Prime Minister Imran Khan is currently chairing a federal cabinet session in Islamabad where Finance Minister Asad Umer is taking the cabinet into confidence over the negotiations conducted with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for a bailout package.
At present, Pakistan’s economic situation is highly tumultuous, the new Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government recently announced its decision to approach IMF amid severe criticism from opposition parties for taking a U-turn on the issue.
