ISLAMABAD: Couple of days after borrowing a waistcoat from National Assembly staffer for the card picture, chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Imran Khan was caught in a spotlight again today when it transpired that the prime minister in-waiting forgot to bring his computerized national identity card during the NA session for election of the speaker.
According to ARY News, Imran forgot to bring along his CNIC and the card is essential for assembly members to cast their vote. However, Speaker Ayaz Sadiq allowed Mr. Khan to cast vote using his prerogative.
The issue was highlighted more when Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Abdul Qadir Patel complained of the “discriminatory behavior” as he had forgotten his NIC and was made to bring it before being allowed to vote.
In response, Ayaz Sadiq issued a statement, “Imran Khan asked for my permission to vote. Had you sought my permission, I would have allowed you to vote as well.”
