LAHORE: Reacting to Pakistan Muslims League – Nawaz (PML-N) leaders’ criticism of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government for allegedly denying ailing former prime minister Nawaz Sharif proper treatment, Law Minister Raja Basharat said on Thursday the government is not playing politics over this issue.
“It was Nawaz Sharif who refused to be shifted to hospital,” the minister said while speaking at the floor of the Punjab Assembly.
He said the government was even ready to contact doctors at London via conference call for the treatment of the PML-N supreme leader. “We are not doing politics of any sort over the health of Nawaz Sharif,” he asserted.
However, PML-N leader Malik Ahmed Khan lamented the recommendations of panels of medical experts constituted to assess Sharif’s health were not implemented by the provincial government.

“Nawaz Sharif refused to be moved to hospital over non-implementation of the recommendations,” he explained, agreeing to sit with the health minister to develop a consensus over the issue of the treatment of the former premier.
Speaker Chaudhry Pervaiz Ilahi advised the treasury and the opposition to sit together to resolve the matter and suggested that the federal government should be kept in the loop in this regard.
