According to a countrywide poll of Pakistanis conducted by the International Republican Institute’s (IRI) Center for Insights, fifty-seven percent (57%) citizens are confident with the new government in the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan.
Radio Pakistan reported that the survey concluded that despite Pakistan’s current economic challenges, confidence of Pakistanis in the new government and the prime minister is high.
However, the survey noted that the government’s performance will be evaluated primarily on its ability to address pressing economic concerns.
Meanwhile, Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry referred to the survey on Twitter and said that this is the poll of a new Pakistan, which shows “strong approval for PTI Government.”
He also criticized former ruling parties – Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) – for failing to reach even “close to the PTI in public perception.”
