KARACHI: A major division was seen between opposition parties prior to the elections of the standing and public accounts committees in the Sindh Assembly as Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) and Tehreek Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) showed reservations over three-party opposition alliance, ARY News reported.
Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) and Tehreek Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) provincial lawmakers adjudicated to make independent decisions regarding matters relating to the elections on standing committees.
Following the differences, MMA lawmaker Abdul Rasheed submitted a privilege motion against the Leader of the Opposition Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) legislator Firdous Shamim Naqvi during the session of the Sindh Assembly.
The motion stated that Naqvi tagged MMA and TLP as an adopted child of ruling Pakistan People’s Party (PPP). The statement came from the PTI’s leader was contemptuous that undermined privileges, it stated.
The privilege motion has been included in the agenda of Sindh Assembly’s session where a debate will be held while the assembly was also expected to conduct voting.
Sources said that Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) is likely to lend support to the privilege motion against the opposition leader.
Whereas, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P) and Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) will hold protests over delay in the formation of the standing committees.
The three-party opposition alliance will organise the demonstrations inside and outside the provincial assembly.
