ISLAMABAD: The International Monetary Fund (IMF) on Wednesday said talks with Pakistan held on the country’s economic situation and prevailing challenges, ARY News reported.
The IMF issued the statement after conclusion of two-day talks of its mission chief Ernesto Ramirez Rigo with Pakistnai officials.
According to IMF, Ernesto Ramirez Rigo met with finance minister, revenue minister and minister for trade and industries and other top officials during his visit.

The statement said talks were held on economic challenges faced by Pakistan, as well as the IMF programme.
Finance Minister Asad Umar briefed the IMF new mission chief about the two mini budgets presented by the current government. He apprised Ernesto Ramirez Rigo of steps taken against the tax evaders.
IMF mission chief expressed concerned over reduction in tax collection target while Asad Umar apprised Ernesto Ramirez Rigo of the reason behind the decline in revenue collection.
Umar had earlier said that talks with the IMF had entered in final stage.
“Pakistan has come closer to reaching an agreement with the IMF as the differences have decreased between Pakistan and the IMF over a possible bailout package,” Umar had said while talking to journalists.
Umar, said that the government would further negotiate with the newly appointed IMF mission chief before reaching to an agreement.
