KARACHI: Inspector General of Sindh Police (IGP) Syed Kaleem Imam on Wednesday gave the go-ahead to switching the Sindh police’s uniform from the khaki trouser and the black shirt to the navy blue and light blue, respectively across the province.
The purpose behind changing the uniforms of the cops is to standardise and create a positive impression about the police force among the public, according to a statement.
“Changing the uniform, including its colour, is aimed not only to bring policing at par with international standards but also spread good and positive impression about the police force among the common people,” the provincial police chief said.
Lauding the change of the uniform, he said this will produce positive results in the long run and hoped the public will not only welcome this change but also laud it.
DIG Operations Sindh Maqsood Ahmed Memon said under the pilot project, the new uniforms won’t be sold or put on display at any shop across the province as the Sindh police will only provide them.
He said it had also been recommended to provide at least four sets of uniform to a cop every year from the fiscal year 2021-2020 onward to ensure that the uniform colour, stitching, and fabric remain up to standards.
