LAHORE/MANCHESTER: The son of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s leader was arrested upon arrival in Manchester on charges of carrying a weapon, ARY News reported.
Salman Gull, son of senior PML-N leader Zubair Gull, was taken into custody by UK’s National Crime Agency personnel shortly after he landed at the Manchester airport from Lahore.
He is facing charges of possessing a weapon with intent to hurt ‘some people.’
His father, however, has denied the charges and said the weapons recovered by the law enforcers didn’t belong to his son.
In September 2012, Zubair Gull was arrested and bailed in London after one of the PML-N activists lodged a complaint with the police that the Gull had allegedly issued a “threat to kill” him.
Gull was then the head of Punjab chief minister’s advisory committee for overseas Pakistanis.
The PML-N leader has been into controversies in the recent past. In one such incident in December 2016, a violent brawl had broken out at the Heathrow Airport upon arrival of Shehbaz Sharif and Gull was being named as the person behind the incident. However, the issue died down too soon. No casualties were reported in the brawl.
