ISLAMABAD: Mobile phone services were partially restored in different parts of Islamabad and Lahore on Friday evening.
As part of security measures, the government had decided to suspend mobile phone services in four cities including Islamabad, Lahore, Rawalpindi and Gujranwala.
Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry earlier on Thursday said that cellular services would remain suspended in the four cities from dawn to dusk (8am to 7pm).
Earlier in the day, State Minister for Interior Affairs, Shehryar Afridi ruled out the use of force against the people, protesting countrywide against acquittal of Asia Bibi and said the writ of the state will be ensured.
Government was striving to meet a peaceful solution of continuing protests, he said and added that the sitting government was hopeful for a positive ‘breakthrough’ of the matter.

Expressing concern over unrelenting protests by religious groups following the top court’s verdict acquitting Asia Bibi in blasphemy case, military’s spokesperson Maj. Gen Asif Ghafoor on Friday had asked religious parties to become a part of the legal process.
In a statement here, the director general Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) had said a review petition had been filed over the court decision, adding “it will be better if the law is allowed to run its course on the matter.”
He said everyone’s limits were defined by the law and the constitution and all people must respect and adhere to it.
