KARACHI: Residents of the metropolis are likely to experience hot weather today with the mercury expected to touch 38 to 40 Celsius degrees.
According to the Pakistan Metrological Department, the hot spell will continue to grip Karachi today as the temperature is expected to surge to 38 to 40 °C during the day.
The city is currently under the influence of hot and dry winds owing to low pressure areas over the Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea.
A weatherman said this low pressure areas can develop into storm which may hit the port city next week.
The maximum temperature recorded in the city yesterday was 38 Celsius degrees, while humidity in the air was 11 per cent.
Continental air is prevailing over most parts of the country. A fresh westerly wave is likely to affect upper parts of the country during Monday/Tuesday. Mainly dry weather is expected in most parts of the country today.
Yesterday, the maximum temperature in the country was recorded 42°C in Mithi and 41°C Chhor.
