LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supreme leader Mian Nawaz Sharif on Friday condemned the arrest of party president Mian Shehbaz Sharif in strong words and termed it “ridiculous”, ARY News reported.
According to a statement released by PML-N, Mian Nawaz Sharif said that Shehbaz Sharif’s arrest is not only regretful but “ridiculous” as Shehbaz served people of Punjab with dedication and honesty.
“This (arrest) is the worst form of political victimization and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government is responsible for it,” said Nawaz Sharif.
The former premier maintained that PTI should not forget that such tactics to victimise political opponents are of no use.
“Whatever they do with their opponents today will haunt them in the future, they too should stay prepared for similar treatment,” said the former PM.
The PML-N supreme leader was of the view that Shehbaz Sharif’s honesty, dedication and enthusiasm for serving masses was lauded by foreign governments, international institutions and the people of Punjab.
“The government should not put the burden of its own failures upon Sehbaz Sharif,” concluded the former PM.

Earlier in the day, National Accountability Bureau (NAB) arrested former Punjab chief minister Shehbaz Sharif in the Rs14 billion Ashiana-i-Iqbal Housing Scheme case.
The Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly has been accused of corruption in the Ashiana Housing case.
He will be produced before an accountability court for remand tomorrow. He will be kept in a highly-secured lock-up inside the NAB Lahore office until his appearance in court.
PML-N’s parliamentary party too condemned the arrest by terming it against the parliamentary norms.
