ISLAMABAD: In another bid to avoid critical questions of media, ousted premier Nawaz Sharif on Thursday got away with the queries saying “I did not listen to his [Prime Minister Imran Khan] address.
The media men approached Nawaz outside an accountability court ahead of Flagship reference hearing, bombarding several questions regarding PM Khan’s address to the nation a day ago.
Nawaz was inquired about Saudi Arabia’s financial deal and PM Imran’s address, to which he responded, “I seldom watch TV and did not listen to his address.”
Few days earlier, Nawaz Sharif, for the first time, evaded the questions of journalist while pushing Marriyum Aurangzeb forward to give answers of their questions.
Nawaz Sharif was asked by a journalist that how does he perceive the political scenario in the context of opposition parties’ meeting to give a tough time to the serving government. To which the supreme leader of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) asked his party’s spokesperson Marriyum to respond.
‘No NRO’
Prime Minister Imran Khan, yesterday, reiterated in a more accentuated manner through a video message to the nation that none will be allowed to evade accountability.
Taking an aim at his political opponents, he said, “My message is loud and clear, you (the opposition parties’ leaders) can protest on roads, in assemblies and even in Islamabad’s D-Chowk, we are even ready to provide you food but there will be no NRO, I will not leave any corrupt individual or give him relief come what may,” said the PM.
Saudi Arabia bailout package
Saudi Arabia has agreed to provide Pakistan $3billion for a period of one year as balance of payment support. The Kingdom also agreed that a one year deferred payment facility for import of oil, up to $3billion, will be provided to Pakistan. This arrangement will be in place for three years, which will be reviewed thereafter.
The PM has expressed hope that now his government will not need to take a big loan from IMF after Saudi’s bailout package.
