ISLAMABAD: Minister for Finance, Revenue and Economic Affairs Asad Umar has constituted a committee headed by State Minister for Revenue Hammad Azhar to come up with a “massive and comprehensive” reforms programme before the end of fiscal year 2018.
According to a statement released on Thursday, the committee will watch over the reforms agenda aiming at short, medium and long-term strategies for optimal revenue generation and resource mobilisation.
The decision was taken during a meeting chaired by the finance minister here at the Federal Board of Revenue House.
It was decided that the committee would meet once every fortnight to excogitate strategies for revenue collection and come up with short and medium-term measures and goals to be implemented before the close of the financial year.
The meeting also decided to translate all tax statutes in Urdu on a priority basis.
The state minister for revenue, Member Subgroup of Economic Advisory Committee on Fiscal Policy Sakib Sherani, Member Subgroup of Economic Advisory Committee on Fiscal Policy Dr Naveed Hamid, Member Subgroup of Economic Advisory Committee on Fiscal Policy Dr Asad Zaman, Member of Tax Reforms Commission Ashfaq Tola, President of Pakistan Tax Bar Association Abdul Qadir Memon and Shabar Zaidi were also present in the meeting.
