‘Thank you for 5 silent years’: Social media be grateful to Pakistan’s ‘invisible’ president

Mamnoon Hussain last day

Mr. Mamnoon Hussain completes his five years of Presidency today, and people on the social media were quick to chip in to honour the departing head of the state with sarcasm-filled messages with all focus on his apparent least-talkative nature.

The social media was crammed with different messages for the president as 73-year-old doggedly maintained a low profile as he completed tenure of his uncontroversial presidency.

Although the office of president is merely ceremonial now and all executive powers rest with the prime minister. The departing president has been a staunch Muslim Leaguer from day one. Through thick and thin, Mamnoon Hussain stood by convicted ex-PM Nawaz Sharif.
