KARACHI: Hot and dry weather will grip Karachi today and the same weather conditions are likely to prevail in the coming few days, according to the Pakistan Metrological Department (PMD).
PMD director Abdul Rasheed said the temperature will increase from Sept 22 to Sept 26 in the city and is likely to touch 38 °C on Sunday. He said the hot weather will begin to neutralise from Sept 26.
Meanwhile, the Met Office said a shallow westerly wave is likely to enter upper parts of the country tonight and may persist during next 2 days.
Mainly dry weather is expected in most parts of the country. However, rain-thundershower is expected at scattered places in Gujranwala, Lahore divisions and Kashmir, while at isolated places in Malakand, Hazara, Mardan, Peshawar, Kohat, Bannu, D.I. Khan, Zhob, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Sahiwal divisions, Islamabad and Gilgit-Baltistan.
Weather remained hot and dry in most parts of the country. However, rain-thundershower occurred in Cherat.
The maximum temperature recorded yesterday was 42°C in Shaheed Benazirabad, followed by 41°C in R.Y. Khan.
