KARACHI: Amid stringent security, Muslims all over Pakistan commemorate Ashura, the 10th of Muharram, today to pay tributes to Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions for their great sacrifice in Karbala.
Multilayered security has been deployed with mobile phone services suspended to provide foolproof security cover to mourners joining processions with Alam (flags), and Tazia (replicas of the mausoleum of Hazrat Imam Hussain in Karbala) across the country.
Mourning events are being held as Ulema and Zakireen highlight the philosophy of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and various aspects of the tragedy of Karbala.
In Karachi, small and big Alam, Zuljinah and Taazia processions will be taken out from different parts of city.
Main procession will be taken out from Nishter Park. The procession after passing through its traditional routes will culminate at Imam Bargh Hussania Irania Kharadar.
Heavy contingents of police have been deployed along the routes of processions and around Imam Bargahs to ensure the day passes off without any untoward incident.
In Lahore, processions of the 10th Muharram-ul-Haram will be taken out from different parts of the city.
Around midnight last night, the main procession of 10th Muharram-ul-Haram was taken out from Nisar Haveli, inside Mochi Gate, which will conclude at Karbala Gaamay Shah this evening, after passing through its traditional route inside the Lahore Walled City.
Thousands of policemen and personnel of other law enforcement agencies have been deputed along the routes of all processions to avoid any untoward incident while CCTV cameras have been installed to monitor the main processions.
Meanwhile, a monitoring cell has been set up at the IG Office Lahore to monitor the Muharram-ul-Haram processions.
Similar processions will also be taken in different parts of the province.
In Peshawar, the main Alam and Zuljinnah procession of 10th Muharram will be taken out from Imambargah Alamdar-e Karbala Qissa Khawani Bazaar after Zuhar prayer today.
More than ten other processions will be taken from other Imambargahs which will join the main procession.
The processions after passing through its traditional routes will terminate at its starting point in the evening.
Tight security measures have been taken to ensure peace on the occasion of Youm-e-Ashur.
In Quetta, main procession will be taken out from Rehmat Ullah chowk Alamdar road. The procession after passing through its tradition routes will culminate at Alamdar road.
