ISLAMABAD: Right after election of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan as prime minister, Punjab governor-elect Chaudhry Sarwar on Friday said Imran had had a long struggle to achieve this milestone, ARY News reported.
“It’s a historic day today, Imran and his aides have had a long struggle for the future of Pakistan and the nation,” he said while talking to media. He congratulated the nation on election of Imran Khan as prime minister of Pakistan.
He said it was time to make the dreams of Allama Iqbal, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammed Ali Jinnah and our ancestors come true.
“This country does not belong to a handful of elites only; it is the country of more than 200 million people,” he said.
The PTI leader said the elites had been taking over the resources of the country for the last 70 years. “Now, we will transfer these resources to the poor. We will bring prosperity and rule of law and eradicate unemployment from the country.
“The most important of the things is that we have announced to wage a jihad against corruption,” he said.
Chaudhry Sarwar said youth had a big role in victory of the PTI.
He appreciated the PPP for not voting Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif.
Talking about across the board accountability, he said PTI members would present themselves for accountability.
