ISLAMABAD: A meeting of the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) Central Executive Committee (CEC) will be held in Islamabad on Sunday (today).
PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif will preside over the meeting which will be attended by recently elected representatives of the party. It is scheduled to start at 4:00 pm.
The moot will discuss the current political situation, JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s proposal of boycotting assemblies in protest against alleged rigging in election and formation of a government in Punjab.
Citing sources, ARY News reported on Saturday, the PML-N leadership has termed the proposal not to take oath as member of parliament as impractical and harmful to the democratic process and suggested that the party should instead register protest against “rigging ” in the polls in some other manner.
The All Parties Conference (APC), convened by the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) to devise a future plan against alleged rigging in July 25 general elections, rejected the poll results and vowed to start a movement to demand fresh elections.
Baring the PML-N, the participants of the conference, who suffered a crushing defeat at the hands of the PTI, had agreed to boycott assemblies. However, Shehbaz didn’t agree to the proposal and sought more time to discuss the proposal at party’s internal levels.
