KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) leader Faisal Sabzwari on Saturday heavily criticised Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) of failing to conduct transparent polls and demanded recount in all the constituences his party was contesing in July 25 elections, ARY News reported.
Addressing media in Karachi, the MQM leader said that his party rejects election results and demands recount in all constituencies.
“ECP has lost credibility by conducting the electoral process in an unfair manner. Moreover, the returning officers are also rejecting our recount petitions, if this doesn’t stop, we will have no option but to protest against this injustice,” said Sabzwari.
The MQM leader also rejected all reports of forging an alliance with the PTI in center but accepted that PTI’s senior leader Jahangir Khan Tareen had contacted the party for negotiations regarding an alliance.
Faisal Sabzwari announced that his party is moving court against rigging and will continue its protest until a scrutiny is ordered.
It is pertinent to note here that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) grabbed 12 out of 21 National Assembly seats from Karachi in the July 25 general elections.
MQM, however, managed to grab four seats including the NA-255 constituency where its chief Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui was contesting against PTI’s Mehmood Moulvi.
