JARANWALA: Deploring Nawaz Sharif’s ouster as Prime Minister, Maryam Nawaz on Saturday lamented that the sanctity of vote has been violated throughout political history of the country.
Addressing a public rally here, Sharif’s daughter said Nawaz Sharif was disqualified for merely possessing a foreign work-permit (Iqama).
Posing a series of questions towards the crowd, she said the elected premier in the country attends court proceedings on regular basis while dictators like Musharaf disregard the court notices.
“Do you accept such [a] Pakistan,” she asked.
Taking aim at her political opponents, the former premier’s daughter asked the crowd whether they accept such a Pakistan where judiciary have dual standards of justice, as what she said, its biased towards Nawaz Sharif and favours PTI Chairman Imran Khan.
“Accountability of three generations was conducted against Sharif family,” she lamented while slamming the opponents for ‘hiding behind one institution or another’ to attack Sharif.
Secretary General Jahangir Tareen was also disqualified by the court but was not nominated in a single reference. “Has NAB [National Accountability Bureau] filed a reference against him?” she asked.
Soliciting support from masses, she said the justice to her father will be done if they continue extending their support to Sharif-led PML-N.
