ISLAMABAD: Clouds of uncertainty over the much-awaited Senate polls seemed to have cleared as the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) issued schedule for the elections on Monday.
According to the schedule, the process of the polls for the seats of the upper house that will fall vacant in March will began on February 03 with returning officers to issue public notices.
Candidates for the elections will be able to submit their nomination papers from 4th to 6th February to the relevant returning officer.
The scrutiny of their nomination papers will completed by February 09 and list of successful applicants will be issued on February 15 while candidates will be able to withdraw their candidacy until February 16.
Polling for Senate seats will be held on March 3.
The Senate comprises 104 members – 23 each from the four provinces, eight from the Federally Administered Tribal Areas and four from Islamabad.
The 23 seats included 14 general seats, four each reserved for women and technocrats and one for minorities.
