ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Ali Muhammad Khan Thursday said that the government intends to privatize six state-owned entities, ARY News reported.
Speaking at the floor of the National Assembly, during the question hour, the minister said that the government has planned to privatize two RLNG plants, two banks, the Jinnah Convention Centre and Coal Power Project Lakhra.
He said the government will also offer for sale its shares in Mari Petroleum.
Ali Muhammad Khan said that the government had sold its PPL shares during the PML-N government tenure.
He informed the lower house that the government was not considering to privatize the Pakistan Steel Mills (PSM). He said that the Steel Mills is a national asset of the country like the institutions such as Pakistan Railways, Pakistan Post etc.
The minister said that PSM was removed from the list of privatization and the government was committed to revive the institution to make it a profitable entity.
Khan told the house the Privatization Commission successfully conducted five privatization transactions during 2014-18, generating proceeds amounting to Rs 172.9 billion.
Replying another question, the minister said that an international level research university will be constructed at the Prime Minister House as per the promise made by the prime minister.
