ISLAMABAD: Federal Law Minister Dr Farogh Naseem here on Thursday said that the government would offer tax amnesty scheme to eliminate corruption from the country, ARY News reported.
Talking to a private news channel, Dr Farogh Naseem said that the tax amnesty scheme would only be offered to those who had not held any public office.
He said, “Prime Minister Imran Khan wants to give people the last chance by offering the scheme.” The minister said that the Federal Board of Revenue had collected complete data of all Pakistanis.
Dr Farogh Naseem further said that corruption had badly damaged the country’s economy and added that it would take time to bring things on right track by taking the difficult decisions.
He underlined the need for bringing strict laws to eradicate corruption from the country.

Earlier, Prime Minister Imran Khan, on April 17, had chaired a meeting to discuss tax amnesty scheme as ministers remained divided on the subject in yesterday’s federal cabinet meeting.
The meeting had reviewed the positive aspects of the scheme and sources had claimed that the approval would be given only after the satisfaction of the federal cabinet members on the matter.
