LAHORE: Opposition Leader in National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday urged Prime Minister Imran Khan to raise salaries of all government and private employees in the view of upcoming month of Ramadan.
Addressing the government in his statement, the president of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) said, if an immediate relief is not provided then it will become impossible for the public to make both ends meet in Ramadan.
In the wake of high inflation lately, Shehbaz suggested a 20 percent increase in the pay of those earning up till Rs0.1 million monthly.
It may be recalled the Punjab Assembly on March 13 had unanimously passed a bill increasing the salary, allowances, perks and privileges to each legislator but Prime Minister Imran Khan had expressed deep concerns and annoyance over the issue.
In his Twitter message, PM Khan had said, he was ‘extremely disappointed by the decision of Punjab Assembly’ regarding raise in salaries and privileges of the Members of Provincial Assembly (MPAs), other minister and especially the chief minister.
