KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Friday overturned the death sentence awarded to a murder convict and converted the sentence into life imprisonment in the double murder case, ARY News reported.
The high court conducted hearing of an appeal filed against capital punishment pronounced to the convict, Ismail, in 2013’s double murder case.
Prosecution apprised SHC that Ismail had murdered three persons and wounded two others by opening fire outside his residence.
The case was registered in Sharafi Goth on February 20 – 2013 against Ismail.
The SHC judge observed that testimonies have not existed on records pertaining to third murder and two wounded persons.

Later, the high court rejected convict’s appeal against capital punishment and converted death sentence into life in jail over killing two in the case.
Earlier on March 21, a bench of Sindh High Court had granted the appeal of two convicts against death sentence in police mobile firing case.
The SHC bench declared the sentence as void and ordered acquittal of the accused Abdul Rasheed and Nasir in the case.
The two accused were arrested after a shootout with police in the year 2012.
Two policemen of Arambagh police station were injured in the incident, prosecution lawyer informed the court.
An anti-terrorism court had awarded death sentence to the two accused.
