ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry on Wednesday slammed opposition politicians for what he said trying to divert people’s attention from corruption cases against them.
In a message on his Twitter handle, the minister asked two main opposition parties – Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) – to shun the refrain of cases against their leaders Nawaz Sharif and Asif Ali Zardari, respectively and focus instead on a new political narrative.
The fazed leadership of both the parties have darkened the future of the parties, he said, adding their non-serious narrative about the alleged attempts to roll back 18th Amendment or install the presidential form of government in the country to divert attention from their cases won’t work.

A day earlier, former president and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari had vowed to resist a bid to introduce the presidential form of government in the country.
Replying to reporters’ questions on the premises of the accountability court in Islamabad where he appeared in connection with the hearing of the fake bank accounts case, he said: “I am not in favour of the president form of government.”
“Let the government try, we will stop them,” the PPP co-chairman said, slamming the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government for what he said conducting experiments in the country every day.
The former president was of the opinion that the country’s situation was going from bad to worse.
