ISLAMABAD: A meeting between Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Jahangir Tareen and a delegation of Balochistan National Party Mengal (BNP-M) on Thursday achieved key breakthrough in the talks between the coalition partners, ARY News reported.

As the internal story of the meeting held at the Prime Minister’s Office yesterday disclosed by the sources in the know of the matter.

According to the sources, the government offered the BNP-M to nominate its member on the commission on the missing persons issue and asked the party to give a name of its representative.

The government side also arranged a meeting of the BNP-Mengal delegation with the chairman of the commission, sources further said.

The BNP’s commission member will visit different districts of Balochistan to survey about the missing persons, the sources said.

The BNP-nominted member will gather details about the missing persons and submit details to the commission, according to the sources.

The meeting also made progress over the issue of power supply in various parts of Balochistan. The government assured setting up two grid stations in the province, sources said.

The government also assured its ally to enhance the quota of Balochistan in government jobs, the sources added.

On the directives of Prime Minister Imran Khan, both political parties had constituted committees for the meeting, sources said.

According to sources, the agenda of the talks include the allotment of six per cent quota of Balochistan in federal employment, construction of new dams, special legislation for Gwadar Port and overall law and order situation.

BNP Chief Akhtar Mengal who was accompanied by Jehanzeb Jamaldini had met Prime Minister Imran Khan last month where they held a meeting to settle reservations between the political allies. A six-point charter of demand had also come under discussion in the meeting.

On March 12, PM Khan had decided to hold meetings with the leadership of Pakistan Muslim League Quaid, Balochistan Awami Party, Grand Democratic Alliance and Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan, the coalition partners of the ruling political party.

Citing emerging differences between Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and coalition partners, PM Khan had decided to hold one-on-one meetings with the PML-Q, BAP, GDA and MQM-P’s leaders in order to remove their reservations on different issues.

SUKKUR: Veteran People’s Party leader Syed Khursheed Shah has said that nomination of Abdul Hafeez Shaikh for the finance portfolio proves that the government needs People’s Party, ARY News reported on Friday.

Talking to media here, the former leader of opposition, claimed that the PTI was formed by gathering people from different parties. “The rulers themselves are unsafe in this government,” Shah claimed.

Commenting on Asad Umar’s stepping down of the finance ministry Shah said that Umar promised change in 90 days’ despite he knew the extent of debt and other facts (of the economy). He didn’t have past experience of running the economy, Shah said.

The state of economy has worsened to the level that the conditions of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) have been accepted, Khursheed Shah said.

The PPP leader said they don’t have anything in their hand, Fawad Chaudhry even didn’t know about his future.

The change in ministries is a usual matter. “We are politicians and should accept our failures. We will not engage in politics over the government failure,” Shah said.

Shah said that Asad Umar was removed in confrontation between two bigshots.

“I told in past to Nawaz Sharif to come to the Parliament, he didn’t come. We also told Imran Khan to come in the parliament but his mind still focussed on the container,” Khursheed Shah remarked.

“The country will progress when every matter will be brought to the parliament,” Shah added.
