KARACHI: A fire that broke out in shops in a Gulistan-e-Jauhar locality in early hours on Monday was brought under control after hours of efforts, ARY News reported.
According to the fire department, the fire erupted in shops built on the ground floor of a multi-storey residential building in Pehlwan Goth area.
Three fire engines took part in the fire fighting operation, it said.
Earlier, on March 21, a fire incident in a commercial building in the Gulshan-e-Iqbal neighbourhood had resulted in the deaths of two men. The deceased jumped off the multi-storey building in a bid to save themselves.
The blaze had broken out at the Noor Trade Centre on University Road within the limits of the Aziz Bhatti police station. Besides the fire brigade, Pakistan Navy helicopters also participated in the rescue operation to airlift the trapped people to safety.

Two of the trapped people had jumped off the building to death in a bid to save themselves from the flames.
