LAHORE: Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmeen Rashid on Friday said that 13,000 lady health workers would be recruited in the province soon, ARY News reported.
Presiding over a meeting of Punjab task force on polio eradication, Yasmeen Rashid said that the lady health workers played key role in anti-polio drive. She said that human resource and micro plan should be reviewed in the polio affected areas.
The meeting was told that total 6 polio cases were reported from different ares of the country during the current year. On the occasion, Punjab chief secretary said that no irresponsibility would be tolerated during the polio eradication campaign.
He said that they will have to participate in the anti-polio drive with national enthusiasm and added that the concerned deputy commissioners would monitor the polio eradication comparing in their respective districts. He urged the masses to cooperate with the anti-polio teams.

Earlier, Polio eradication programme on April 13 had confirmed presence of active polio virus in sewage of 12 big cities of the country.
As per details, P-1 polio virus was found from the sewage of the 12 big cities including, Peshawar, Lahore, Karachi, Rawalpindi, Banu, Mardan, Waziristan, Hyderabad, Sukkur and Shahdadkot.
Sources privy to the development had said keeping the alarming situation in view, the authorities had decided to extend age from 5 to 10 years for the administration of the anti-polio drops.
