LAHORE: Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif facilitated release of his ‘orderly’ in prison on bail, ARY News reported on Wednesday.
Sawar Hussain, a prisoner in Kot Lakhpat Jail, who was made to serve as orderly (personal help) to the former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, was undergoing a jail term in a murder case.
Sawar Hussain was awarded 14-years jail term by a court in year 2009.
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz lawyers forum on the directives of their leader filed a bail petition for Sawar Hussain at Lahore High Court.
The court while suspending the sentence of the prisoner ordered his release.
The bench in its remarks said that Sawar Hussain has served a large part of his sentence, if his jail term not suspended he would possibly have serve his full term till the court’s decision on his appeal.
“And serving a full jail sentence till a decision on appeal will be equal to an advanced sentence,” the bench remarked on the relief provided to the prisoner.
The PML-N sources said that the prisoner served the former prime minister in a best way. Happy with his service, Sharif directed the party lawyers to file petition for suspension of his jail sentence.
The party lawyers also arranged Rs. 2,00,000 surety bond for release of Sawar Hussain, sources added
The Supreme Court yesterday granted an appeal of Nawaz Sharif for his release on bail for six weeks on medical grounds, who was in Kot Lakhpat Jail Lahore to serve seven-year imprisonment handed down to him in the Al-Azizia Steel Mills reference.
