PESHAWAR: In a bid to keep the city clean, Khyber Pakhtunkwa (KP) government has decided to slap fines on the spot over littering in Peshawar.
According to the details, the citizens have been warned that anyone found throwing garbage outside or near their house will be fined in Peshawar. KP government has installed closed-circuit television cameras across Peshawar to catch people red-handed while littering.
The Water and Sanitation Services Company Peshawar (WSSCP) has designated some places as garbage points and imposed ban on throwing litter and waste material out of houses.
WSSP Chief Executive Officer Syed Zafar Ali Shah said that they would take strict action against littering in the city and added that officials would be deployed across the city who would fine people for littering. He said that citizens violating the ban would be fined, ranging from Rs5,000 to Rs 20,000.

Earlier, the chief commissioner of Islamabad, on March 2, had granted magisterial powers to assistant commissioners to take action against residents dumping garbage outside their houses.
The citizens had been warned that anyone found throwing garbage outside or near their house will be fined as well.
The directives came after the capital city administration launched a cleanliness drive and asked citizens to report complaints of those throwing trash.
