ISLAMABAD: Former president Asif Ali Zardari on Friday filed another petition in the Supreme Court, pleading it to bar the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) from probing into fake bank accounts case.
“The FIA and the NAB are carrying out parallel investigation into the matter, which is against the law,” the plea submitted on behalf of Zardari by his advocate Latif Khosa read.
Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari has further stated in his plea that the JIT was asked to assist the accountability watchdog in the probe, but it was carrying a separate investigation.
My legal advisor Abu Bakar Zardari was grilled by the FIA team with regard to selected bank accounts, Zardari said in his petition submitted in the top court.

He has requested the apex court to halt Federal Investigation Agency and the Joint Investigation Team from probing into the matter.
On Jan 7, the Supreme Court had ordered NAB to conduct a thorough inquiry into the case and wrap it up within two months.
The judgment read that according to the JIT report, [fake bank accounts] were a matter of kickbacks, misuse of authority, money laundering and embezzlement.
