FAISALABAD: It has emerged on Tuesday that hundreds of acres of Forest Department land in Faisalabad has been seized during the tenure of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government, ARY News reported.
The Forest Department sources said 277 acre of land were captured in different districts of Faisalabad Division. 191 acre out of 277 was state property, they said.
The sources said 18 acre in chak 250, four acre in chak 648 and 146 acre in chak 534 were seized by land mafia, while control of 12 acre in Samandri area’s chak 46 could not be reclaimed.
They maintained that 21 acre in Kamalia, seven acre in Jalal Deen Jhang and four acre in Chinyot were also taken over by the land mafia.
The Forest Department has sought help from the divisional administration to retrieve the land.
This may be noted that in October the following year, the state land worth Rs 10 billion was recovered by the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) during an operation in the city. It was reported then that the land mafia had encroached upon precious state land in collusion with some government officials.
