ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has thanked Bill Gates, a billionaire philanthropist and the founder of Microsoft, for his uninterrupted support for the uplift of Pakistan’s social sector, ARY News reported on Wednesday.
In a 30-minute long telephonic conversation, Bill Gates felicitated Premier Khan for assuming charge of his office after wining the General Elections of 2018.
The prime minister and Gates also exchanged views for bolstering Information Technology (IT) sector of Pakistan, during their telephonic talk.
Mr Gates lauded the steps being taken by Prime Minister Imran Khan for polio eradication from Pakistan and reiterated his resolve to continue helping Pakistan in various fields.
Mr Khan expressed his gratitude for Gates support in country’s social sector.
Earlier this year, Bill Gates had announced to increase financial aid to Pakistan. Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation had sent a letter to the then, Minister for National Health Services (NHS) Saira Afzal Tarar and hailed efforts made by Pakistan to eradicate polio.
According to reports, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation want to expand engagements in Pakistan along with polio eradication campaign.
The foundation had routinely provided assistance to Pakistan to combat polio from the country.
