LAHORE: A contingent of Pakistan Navy assumed the charge of guards, in a change of guard ceremony on the birth anniversary of Dr. Muhammad Iqbal here at the mausoleum of the great poet and philosopher.
Pakistan Navy’s station commander Lahore, Commodore Naimatullah, was the chief guest of the ceremony.
A smartly turned contingent of Pakistan Navy assumed the charge of the honorary guards.
Commodore Naimatullah inspected the guard of honour of the Navy and Rangers contingents and also laid floral wreath at Mazar-e-Iqbal.
The chief guest also wrote his comments in the book kept at the mausoleum for the guests.
The participants in the ceremony prayed for the peace and prosperity of Pakistan.
The mausoleum has been opened for general public after the ceremony. A large number of citizens visiting Mazar-e-Iqbal to pay respects to the great poet.
A number of gatherings will be held in Lahore to highlight the teachings of the great philosopher.
