KARACHI: Police has approached Sindh home department seeking announcement of head money on the arrest of five drug dealers operating in Karachi.
Karachi police chief Dr Ameer Ahmed Shaikh has sent a request to Sindh Police Syed Kaleem Imam seeking announcement of Rs one million cash bounty on the arrest of five notorious drug dealers of the city, who were not only supplying drugs in educational institutions but also involved in street crimes.
Police chief asked the home department to announce head money on the arrest of Farman alias Malangi of Manghopir, Ahmed Ali Magsi of PIB Colony, Syed Badshah of Landhi, Farooq alias Roorha of Chanesar Goth and Taj Mohammad Khan, a native of Hayatabad, Peshawar and is presently living in Korangi.

In a letter to the IG Police, the city police chief said that there was a “strong nexus” between the narcotics dealers and criminals.
“During the course of interrogation of arrested accused it was revealed that most of the street criminals are drug addicts. And they commit robberies to meet the expenses of intoxication,” the letter said.
Police chief further said that the menace of drugs had also penetrated into educational institutes.
“Both young men and women are using various psychoactive substances in colleges and universities,” the letter said.
There were certain known drug peddlers who were responsible for spreading narcotics in the society, Dr. Shaikh said.
The letter conclude with the suggestion that the home department may be moved to announce head money of Rs one million for each for apprehension of the dealers,” the letter concluded.
