ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan will be fulfilling his another promise with the inauguration of the five million housing project on Wednesday (today).
PM Imran will inaugurate the project named “Apna Ghar Authority” at 5:00 pm at the PM House, the sources informed ARY News.
The housing scheme which was also the part of PTI’s election manifesto, will provide shelter to homeless people.
According to details, the government has finalized the plan of construction of five million houses for low-income public who will be able to purchase the residence on easy installments.
The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has been given the task of collecting data to identify those in need, sources further said.
The formal inauguration of the project by PM Imran Khan today will initiate the construction of five million houses in Islamabad, Lahore, Peshawar, Karachi and Quetta.
The federal government will supervise the project.
Prime Minister Imran has earlier expressed hope that the “five million housing project”, besides addressing housing issues would be a force multiplier in generating economic activities through creation of jobs and providing a boost to allied sectors of construction and housing.
Two days earlier, Prime Minister Khan launched the countrywide ‘Clean and Green Pakistan’ campaign and urged people from all social strata to make it a success by actively participating in it.
“This campaign is for our future. Everyone has to partake in it,” the prime minister urged, lamenting: “Pakistan is a gift but unfortunately we haven’t paid attention to its beautification.”
