ISLAMABAD: Parliamentary party meeting of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) is underway on Monday (today) with Prime Minister Imran Khan in chair.
The parliamentary party meeting of the ruling party began at the parliament house just before the National Assembly session, to chalk out strategy to counter an expected protest of the opposition.
Prime Minister Imran Khan will attend the session of the lower house, whereas leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif, who is currently in the National Accountability Bureau’s custody, will also attend the session. On October 26, NA Speaker Asad Qaiser issued production orders for Shehbaz so that he can attend the National Assembly session today.
Earlier today, NAB court extended physical remand of Shehbaz Sharif until Nov 7 in Ashiana-e-Iqbal Housing scandal.
Accountability Judge Syed Najamul Hasan granted the extension on a request by the bureau.
Shahbaz Sharif was presented in court a day before his earlier 14-day physical remand was to end. NAB asked the judge to extend his remand for another 15 days as his custody was required for further questioning.
A larger number of PML-N workers also gathered outside the court and chanted anti-government slogans.
The opposition leader complained to the accountability judge that neither did NAB officials permit him to hold a weekly meeting with his family members, nor did they got his sugar and blood tests conducted nevertheless he was a cancer patient and had undergone a surgery abroad.
He lamented even Indian spy Kulbhushan Jadhav was allowed to meet his family members but he was denied a meeting.
He said the bureau took him into custody in the Ashiana scandal and quizzed him about this scandal as well as the Saaf Pani Company scam and his assets during his remand.
