LAHORE: The National Accountability Bureau released its investigation report on Monday that maintains that Shehbaz Sharif had been involved in corrupt practices.
Following the remand of former chief minister, the anti-graft watchdog published its report, according to which, Shehbaz Sharif unlawfully ordered the private-public partnership in Ashiana Housing scheme.
The NAB’s report has put millions-rupee embezzlement charges on former Lahore Development Authority (LDA) director general Ahad Cheema, who is considered to be a close confidant of Shehbaz Sharif.
The report further claimed, in order to give Rs9.5 billion financial benefit to the Paragon Developers, Shehbaz took special measures and the value of 2000 canal land was estimated at Rs13 billion, whereas, the actual market cost of the land stands over Rs23 billion.
Moreover, the Bureau, in its report, said that Opposition Leader was not cooperating during the investigations. Nonetheless, Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) president has said that he patiently answered all questions put to him by NAB officials.
Earlier today, an accountability court extended the physical remand Shehbaz Sharif until Nov 7 in Ashiana-e-Iqbal Housing scandal.
Accountability Judge Syed Najamul Hasan granted the extension on a request by the bureau. Shehbaz was presented in court a day before his earlier 14-day physical remand was to end.
Shehbaz complained to the accountability judge that neither did NAB officials permit him to hold a weekly meeting with his family members, nor did they get his sugar and blood tests conducted nevertheless, he was a cancer patient and had undergone a surgery abroad.
He said the anti-corruption body took him into custody in the Ashiana scandal and quizzed him about this scandal as well as the Saaf Pani Company scam and his assets.
