LAHORE: Young doctors went on strike at various public sector hospitals in Lahore on Saturday to protest against the sexual harassment of a female doctor in a Rahim Yar Khan hospital.
Doctors boycotted outdoor patients departments (OPDs) of the city’s hospitals, adding to miseries of patients. However, medical officers are discharging duties at the emergency and other wards as per routine.
Doctors at the District Headquarter Hospital, Vihari also observed strike, calling for measures to ensure the safety of lady doctors at health facilities.
According to reports, a lady doctor was performing duties at the emergency ward of a medical facility in Rahim Yar Khan. When she went to take a nap in another room, a sanitary worker followed her in and tried to sexually assault her.
However, her screams altered others standing nearby who reached the spot and caught the accused.
The accused was later handed over to police.
