ISLAMABAD: Former premier Nawaz Sharif was produced before an accountability court in Islamabad as it resumed hearing into the Al-Azizia and Flagship Investment references on Friday.
Accountability Judge Arshad Malik presided over the trial proceedings. The former premier was ferried from Adiala jail to the court amid tight security.
Sharif’s lawyer Khawaja Haris cross-examined star witness Panama Joint Investigation Team (JIT) head Wajid Zia.
The judge admonished PML-N leader Tariq Fazal Chaudhry and Advocate Pervaiz Malik for gossiping inside the courtroom.
During the cross-examination, Haris asked the witness if the Hill Metal Establishment (HME) was a company, corporation or proprietorship. Zia replied that the relevant documents had no mention about it.
The HME has been mentioned as a steel firm, he said and added the former premier’s son, Hussain Nawaz, was made part of the probe on July 30 last year.
Did you ask Hussain if the Hill Metal Establishment was a company or corporation, Haris asked. The witness replied in the negative.
