KARACHI: Former convener MQM-P Farooq Sattar claimed that he was proposed to join Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf to contest upcoming by-election on NA-247.
While speaking to the media, Sattar clarified “I have never left my party and will continue to follow the same policy” adding that he was offered PTI’s membership by some of his close friends from the ruling party in order to contest on the seat left vacant by President-elect Arif Alvi.
Referring to Ali Raza Abidi’s decision to quit MQM-P, he said “Abidi has a right to contest from NA-247.” Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan needs to learn from its mistakes and “our coordination committee should go out to Ali Raza Abidi and convince him to return to the MQM-P.”
He stressed that MQM-P is still a major party in Sindh.
“Just the way, we have made a coalition to be the part of the government to build the country, then others should also side with us to investigate into the alleged rigging in the general elections,” he urged.
In July 25 polls, Farooq Sattar of MQM lost had lost the NA-247 seat to PTI candidate Dr Arif Alvi. However, the seat is now vacant following the presidential election which saw Alvi being elected as the country’s 13th president.
