ISLAMABAD: Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry on Saturday said that Indian government is making statements against Pakistan to divert attention from a corruption scandal targeting Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

He said that Pakistan rejects war mongering by the ruling elite which is an attempt bail out out Modi from calls for resignation amid a mega corruption scandal and calls for his resignations.

“We reject war mongering by ruling elite of India everyone know Indian Govt strategy is to use hate mongering against Pak basically to bail Pm Modi from call for resignation post French jets Rafael deal and divert attention of Indian public from this mega corruption scandal,” said the minister.

Referring to India’s Congress party leader Rahul Gandhi’s recent statements, the information minister said that this explains the tirade by the BJP against Pakistan.

Rahul Ghandhi had demanded an explanation on the role of the BJP in that Rafale jets deal with France, and said that Indian PM Modi had betrayed India.

“The PM personally negotiated & changed the #Rafale deal behind closed doors. Thanks to François Hollande, we now know he personally delivered a deal worth billions of dollars to a bankrupt Anil Ambani,” he said.

“The PM has betrayed India. He has dishonoured the blood of our soldiers.”

He said further Indian PM Modi and Anil Ambani carried a ‘surgical strike’ on the Indian defence forces and had detrayed ‘India’s soul.’

“The PM and Anil Ambani jointly carried out a One Hundred & Thirty Thousand Crore, SURGICAL STRIKE on the Indian Defence forces. Modi Ji you dishonoured the blood of our martyred soldiers. Shame on you. You betrayed India’s soul,” he added.

Former French President Francois Hollande, in an interview to an investigative news website Mediapart, had contradicted a statement by the Indian government that it had nothing to do with the partners after the deal was signed in 2016.

Hollande had said that the Indian government had proposed the proposed the name of Indian billionaire Anil Ambani’s Reliance Defence as a “service provider” to Dassault Aviation in the Rs59,000 crore deal for 36 Rafale jets.

Rahul Gandhi also questioned Modi’s silence saying that he should clear his stand on the Rafale deal after Hollande’s remarks. He also demanded a joint parliamentary probe on a the matter related to defence forces and corruption.
