DUBAI: Former president General (retd) Pervez Musharraf also responded to recent threatening statements by Indian army chief and the fallout after the peace talks between the two countries were cancelled.
In a video message, the All-Pakistan Muslim Leader (APML) leader strongly criticised the irresponsible statements being issued by the Indian civil and military leaders.
He said that Indian should realise that Pakistan army is brave and one of the best in the world. “Pakistan army is a hardened army. It is fighting in FATA and also has complete civilian support,” he said.
Musharraf said that India should learn a lesson from the Kargil incident and the 2002 attack on Indian parliament. He recalled that India attempted to mobilise its forces to the eastern border, but Pakistan army sensed it and India was taken back and had to retreat their forces.
“There should be no misunderstanding. Those days are of wearing tilted hats for style are long gone. If there is war, India will be taught a befitting lesson,” he said.
“Pakistan army is one the best and still capable of fighting any Indian aggression.”
He also denied allegations that Pakistan army was responsible for mutilating bodies of dead Indian soldiers saying it is against the tenets of Islam. He said such baseless allegations start from the Line of Control and reach all the way to the president and prime minister.
“I want to remove all misunderstanding. When a Muslim raises the slogan of ‘Allah-o-Akbar’ (Allah is Great) then he does not look back,” he said, adding that millions of Muslims will unite in case of any misadventure.
Musharraf said the current Indian government is a proponent of ‘Hindu Raj’ which aims to get political advantage by anti-Muslim policies.
Therefore, the statements and threats against Pakistan are an attempt to gain political advantage but they will not succeed as the people are aware their intentions.
