ISLAMABAD: For the reconstitution of 9th National Finance Commission (NFC), Asad Umer, the finance minister, on Wednesday has written letters to chief ministers of all four provinces.
After every five years, reconstituting the National Finance award is a constitutional obligation, read the letter.
“The federal finance minister and the provincial finance ministers are the statutory members of NFC. It is customary to include one non-statutory member from each province,” the letter added.
Once the provincial governments nominate their members for the commission, an official notification regarding constitution of the NFC will be then released.
On the floor of the Senate last month. the federal finance minister informed the lawmakers that the National Finance Commission Award is a constitutional obligation. On the first day after assuming the public office, Umer directed the finance secretary to initiate the process for reconstitution of NF award.
